Building & Structural Zinc Plated Products
High-capacity zinc and zinc-nickel plating for building and structural hardware used in commercial, industrial, and infrastructure applications.
We plate the components that support electrical, mechanical, and structural systems, including strut channel, threaded rod, brackets, posts, and angle rings. Our role is to protect these parts with corrosion-resistant coatings and keep them moving through plating efficiently, so production and delivery schedules stay on track.
Built For High-Volume Structural Plating
Gatto is built for high-volume structural work. From long channel and threaded rod to brackets and fittings, our 27-foot rack tanks and high-throughput barrel lines keep parts moving efficiently.
Plating Built Around Your Production Flow
Our facility is structured to receive, schedule, and move material into production quickly, reducing delays between delivery and plating.
Streamlined Receiving and Unloading
When material arrives, it is unloaded quickly at our large interior shipping and receiving dock by an experienced team of material handlers. Dedicated equipment and organized staging allow full truckloads and mixed pallets to be received, tagged, and staged for plating the same day they arrive.
Controlled Flow Through Every Stage
Once material is received, it moves through a defined staging and tagging system that keeps every job traceable from start to finish.
Each load is labeled by customer, order, and destination and assigned a marked zone within our facility, so even large or mixed orders stay organized throughout processing.
This structure allows us to track status in real time and move parts efficiently between plating, baking, inspection, and packaging, ensuring accurate shipments and quick, reliable updates when you need them.
Direct, Flexible Shipping Options
After plating, each order is packaged, labeled, and bundled to your requirements — by lot, quantity, destination, or customer order.
Finished parts can be drop-shipped directly to your customer, helping simplify logistics and reduce handling and freight costs.
Huge Tanks for Large and Long Parts
Our high-capacity rack plating lines handle parts up to 27 feet long, allowing slotted channel, threaded rod, straight rod, and fabricated assemblies to be plated in full lengths without sectioning or double-dipping.
Large tanks allow for plating of large parts. But our real advantage comes from the capacity, organization, and systems behind them, allowing oversized parts and high-volume hardware to move through plating efficiently.
Central Location. National Reach.
Our Chicago facility sits at the heart of the nation’s manufacturing network, positioned at the crossroads of major highways and manufacturing hubs, making it easy to move finished parts quickly in any direction and helping you ship faster and reduce freight time.
Zinc and Zinc-Nickel Coatings for Structural Applications
Zinc plating provides cost-effective corrosion protection that extends the service life of steel components. Our team has the technical knowledge and experience to apply these coatings properly and efficiently.
Available Finishes
- Zinc Plating (Trivalent or Hexavalent) — Clear, yellow, black or olive drab chromates available for reliable corrosion protection in indoor, outdoor, and semi-exposed environments with dependable coverage.
- Zinc-Nickel Plating for Added Protection — Offers up to 10× the corrosion resistance of standard zinc plating, providing exceptional durability for parts exposed to harsh or demanding environments.
- Plated to Meet Industry Specifications — We routinely process work to ASTM B633, ASTM B841, and numerous OEM and customer-specific standards. Coatings are verified through Eddy Current and X-ray Fluorescence testing to confirm thickness accuracy.
- Optional Hydrogen-Relief Baking — Some parts require post-plating baking based on material hardness. We provide hydrogen embrittlement relief baking when required.
Whether your hardware ends up indoors, outdoors, or embedded in concrete, our controlled processes deliver consistent protection that keeps your products performing.
Quality You Can Measure
We monitor our plating chemistries daily to keep each bath operating within its optimal range. That routine testing and maintenance allow us to produce a consistent finish that meets appearance and corrosion resistance requirements across orders.
Located in Chicago, we reach 65% of the U.S. in a day, lowering freight costs, reducing lead times, and enabling direct shipping to your customer.
With 210,000 sq. ft., we process full truckload orders efficiently, keeping parts organized and on schedule with dedicated staging, processing, and tracking.
Flaking, bleed-out, poor adhesion, we catch plating issues early before they turn into costly problems.
From fast quotes to clear answers, we simplify the plating process so you can focus on the rest of your project.
