Large Parts Zinc Plating

Gatto Industrial Platers Is Now Home to North America’s Largest Zinc Plating Line – King Kong!

After months of anticipation, we are excited to announce that our New Extra Large Parts Line is up and running! King Kong is comprised of the largest zinc tanks in the U.S., capable of processing parts up to 27 feet in length and 8000 lbs.  Our new line can zinc plate Extra Large Parts using either a RoHS Compliant Clear Trivalent Chromate or a RoHS Compliant High Corrosion Clear Trivalent Chromate. Our High Corrosion Clear Trivalent Chromate can provide up to 120 hours of protection to white rust and 500 hours to red. Our Clear Trivalent Chromate can provide up to 24 hours of protection to white rust and 200 hours to red. Gatto has over four decades of experience plating large and unique parts.

Due to our Extra-Large tank size (27’ Long X 4’ Wide X 8’ Deep) Gatto can now offer manufacturers an effective alternative to galvanizing and painting for large parts in need of corrosion protection. We have the ability to achieve a uniform finish across parts while still providing exceptional corrosion protection. King Kong also allows us to offer those who are currently manufacturing and designing parts in multiple sections due to limited tank size, a cost effective solution to design and manufacture as one large part. Processing as one part will help companies cut both time and cost.

Large Parts Tank Features & Benefits

  • Zinc Finish with High Performance RoHS Compliant Clear Trivalent Chromate
  • Can handle parts up to 27' long and 8000 lbs.
  • 72 Hour Lead Time
  • Eliminates the need to manufacture parts as multiple sections due to limited tank size
  • Made from recycled material

DID YOU KNOW?

In an ongoing effort to reduce the amount of waste cycling back into our environment, the King Kong was designed and constructed using high-quality equipment. By refurbishing old tanks and beams, we prevented over 1,000,000 pounds of material from cycling back into the scrap yards.

Extra Large Parts Tank Hoist Applications

Differences Between Zinc Plating & Galvanizing

ZINC PLATING

GALVANIZING

  • Durable finish that provides protection from both white and red rust
  • Durable finish that provides protection from both white and red rust
  • Zinc applied using a Low-Voltage, High Amperage DC current
  • Zinc applied by dipping product in bath of molten zinc
  • Typically used for a wide variety of applications from automotive parts to mainframe computer chassis
  • Most common in outdoor applications
  • Ideal for product with threads; won’t need to re-work threads
  • Not ideal for product with threads; the thickness of the coating may require the threads to be re-worked
  • Controlled and uniform layer of zinc is applied
  • Thick layer of zinc is applied, not as uniform
  • Paintable
  • Paintable with pre-treatment
